چکیده
Reduction of an N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) adduct of SnCl(2), viz. [(IPr)SnCl(2)] (IPr = :C{N(Dip)C(H)}(2); Dip = 2,6-diisopropylphenyl), with a magnesium(I) dimer, has afforded the first NHC complex of a row 5 element in its diatomic form, [(IPr)Sn=Sn(IPr)]; a computational analysis of the complex indicates that it comprises a singlet state, doubly bonded tin(0) fragment, :Sn=Sn:, datively bonded by two NHC ligands.

Its reaction with Me2SAuCl led to the formation of an unprecedented P=C-bridged trinuclear gold complex [AuC(SiMe3)=PMes*]3 through the transfer of the phosphaalkenyl substituent to the gold atom.

In the title compound, [Sn(CH(3))(2)(NSC)(2)(C(24)H(16)N(2))], a 1:1 adduct of dimethyl-tin diisothio-cyanate with 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline, the Sn(IV) atom shows a slightly distorted octa-hedral SnC(2)N(4) coordination. The methyl groups are trans to each other in the octa-hedron surrounding the metal atom [C-Sn-C = 176.61 (12)°].
